Ferritin Test

Ferritin testing is ordered to evaluate:

• Suspected iron-deficiency anemia, even before other blood counts become abnormal
• Unexplained fatigue or hair loss
• Monitoring iron therapy effectiveness
• Suspected iron overload conditions
• Chronic inflammatory or infectious conditions, where ferritin can rise as part of the inflammatory response
