About Thoracic Surgery
Thoracic surgery treats diseases of the lungs, pleura, chest wall and oesophagus. Many operations are now done by keyhole (VATS) technique, with smaller cuts and faster recovery.
A collapsed lung with sudden chest pain and breathlessness needs urgent care. TB-related lung and pleural complications are also treated surgically in selected cases.
