Causes of H. Pylori Infection
Caused by infection with Helicobacter pylori bacteria, typically transmitted through contaminated food or water, or through direct contact with saliva or faecal matter of an infected person, most often acquired during childhood. Poor sanitation, crowded living conditions, and lack of access to clean water increase the likelihood of transmission and account for the infection's high prevalence in developing regions including India. The infection can persist for a lifetime if not specifically treated, since the body's immune system generally cannot clear it on its own.
