Lipid Profile (Complete) Test
About Lipid Profile (Complete) Test
A complete Lipid Profile measures the different types of fat circulating in your blood — total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, HDL cholesterol, and triglycerides — providing a detailed picture of your cardiovascular risk.
LDL, often called 'bad' cholesterol, contributes to fatty plaque buildup in artery walls when present in excess, while HDL, the 'good' cholesterol, helps remove excess cholesterol from the bloodstream and is generally considered protective at higher levels.
Triglycerides, a separate type of fat used for energy storage, can also independently raise cardiovascular risk when chronically elevated, particularly when combined with low HDL and high LDL.
Because high cholesterol typically causes no symptoms until it leads to a heart attack or stroke, a lipid profile is one of the most important preventive screening tests in adult healthcare, recommended at regular intervals even for people who feel completely healthy.
