Vitrectomy in Gorane, Dhule, Maharashtra

Will my vision improve after vitrectomy?

Many patients see meaningful improvement, though the extent depends on the underlying condition and how much damage existed before surgery — your ophthalmologist can give you a realistic expectation based on your specific case.

Is vitrectomy painful?

The procedure is usually done under local anesthesia with sedation, so it isn't painful, though some discomfort and gritty sensation are common for a few days afterward.

Will I need to maintain a special head position afterward?

If a gas or oil bubble is used to hold the retina in place, specific positioning for several days may be required — your surgeon will give detailed instructions.

How long is the recovery?

Recovery generally takes 2-6 weeks, though full visual recovery, especially with gas bubbles, can take longer as the bubble gradually absorbs.

What are the risks?

Risks include cataract formation, very common after vitrectomy in adults, retinal detachment, infection, and increased eye pressure, all of which are monitored closely during follow-up visits.
