Spinal Cord Surgery in Mandi, Delhi

Can spinal cord surgery restore lost function?

Outcomes depend heavily on the cause and how quickly surgery is performed after symptoms start — some function can be regained, especially with early intervention, but recovery is never guaranteed.

How risky is this type of surgery?

Because it involves the spinal cord directly, there is real risk of worsening neurological function, which is why it's performed by specialized neurosurgeons using nerve monitoring technology.

How long is the recovery period?

Recovery is often prolonged, typically 3-6 months, and may involve intensive rehabilitation depending on the neurological deficits present.

Is this always an emergency?

Not always — tumors or degenerative conditions may be treated electively, but acute trauma or rapidly progressing weakness requires urgent surgical evaluation.

Will I need rehabilitation after surgery?

Yes, physical and occupational rehabilitation is a critical part of recovery for most spinal cord surgery patients.
