🔬How Colostomy is Performed

• 1Pre-operative assessment — blood work, ECG, imaging, and fitness for general anesthesia
• 2Administration of general anesthesia by the anaesthesia team
• 3Surgical access — incisions or ports created based on open or minimally invasive approach
• 4Core procedure: A surgical procedure that brings one end of the large intestine out through the abdominal wall to divert stool into a colostomy bag, used in colorectal cancer, bowel obstruction, or trauma.
• 5Haemostasis, drain placement if needed, and systematic closure of surgical layers
• 6Transfer to recovery room for anaesthesia reversal and vital-sign monitoring
