About Living Donor Programme
A living donor programme assesses and supports people who wish to donate a kidney or part of a liver to a relative or loved one. Donation is voluntary, unpaid and legally regulated by the Transplantation of Human Organs Act.
Donors undergo medical, psychological and legal evaluation, and surgery is generally safe in healthy donors. Lifelong follow-up is advised, and the sale of organs is illegal.
