About Hematologic Oncology
Haematologic oncology treats cancers of the blood, bone marrow and lymph nodes. Symptoms such as persistent fatigue, repeated infections, easy bruising, swollen glands or night sweats need blood tests.
Diagnosis uses blood counts, bone marrow examination and special tests. Many blood cancers are now highly treatable, with targeted tablets for some leukaemias and stem cell transplantation for selected patients.
