PET Imaging

PET-CT combines functional and anatomical imaging to see how active tissues are, widely used to stage cancers, check response to treatment and detect recurrence. Special tracers target specific cancers, such as PSMA for prostate cancer.

Fasting for 4 to 6 hours is usually needed, and blood sugar should be controlled. The radiation dose is small, and the tracer leaves the body in hours.
