About Motility Disorders
Motility disorders occur when the gut's muscles do not move food and waste along normally. This can cause difficulty swallowing, bloating, nausea, early fullness or chronic constipation.
Specialised tests such as manometry measure muscle pressure. Treatment may include diet change, medicines, biofeedback or procedures. Difficulty swallowing or weight loss should always be evaluated.
