About Laryngology (Voice)
Laryngology treats disorders of the voice box and throat. Teachers, singers and call-centre workers commonly develop voice strain, nodules or reflux-related irritation.
Hoarseness lasting more than three weeks, especially in smokers, needs a laryngoscopy to rule out serious disease. Voice therapy, reflux treatment and sometimes microsurgery help restore the voice.
