Upper GI Endoscopy (OGD) in Singhu, Delhi

Is an upper GI endoscopy painful?

Most patients experience only mild discomfort like gagging as the scope passes, especially with throat-numbing spray, and IV sedation is often available to make the procedure more comfortable.

Do I need to fast before the procedure?

Yes, fasting for about 6-8 hours beforehand is required so the stomach is empty, allowing clear visualization and reducing the risk of complications.

How long does recovery take after endoscopy?

If sedation was used, you'll need someone to drive you home and should rest for the remainder of the day, while throat soreness typically resolves within 24 hours.

When will I get my biopsy results if taken?

Biopsy results usually take about 5-7 days, while the visual findings from the procedure itself are often discussed with you shortly after you wake from sedation.

Are there risks with upper GI endoscopy?

It is a very safe procedure overall, though rare risks include bleeding, perforation, or reaction to sedation; your gastroenterologist will discuss these in the context of your individual health.
