Causes of Tumour Staging
The need for staging arises once a cancer diagnosis has been confirmed through biopsy, as physicians must determine how far the disease has progressed locally, regionally, and to distant sites before deciding on treatment. Cancer spreads through direct local invasion into surrounding tissue, through the lymphatic system to nearby lymph nodes, and through the bloodstream to distant organs such as the liver, lungs, bones, or brain.
