Causes of Anaemia
Most commonly caused by iron deficiency from inadequate dietary intake, poor absorption, or chronic blood loss such as heavy menstrual periods or gastrointestinal bleeding. Other causes include vitamin B12 or folate deficiency, chronic diseases like kidney disease, inherited conditions such as thalassaemia, and bone marrow disorders. Risk is markedly higher in menstruating women, pregnant women, young children, and individuals with poor nutritional intake.
