📖What is Shin Splints?
Shin Splints, medically known as medial tibial stress syndrome, is a common overuse injury characterized by pain along the inner edge of the shin bone, resulting from repetitive stress on the bone and surrounding muscle and connective tissue. The condition typically develops after a sudden increase in physical activity, particularly running or activities involving repetitive impact on hard surfaces. Pain usually begins as a dull ache during exercise that can progress to persistent discomfort even at rest if activity continues without adequate recovery. While generally not serious, untreated shin splints can occasionally progress to more significant stress fractures if training continues without modification.
