Causes of Inguinal Hernia
Occurs due to a congenital or acquired weakness in the abdominal wall muscles, often at a site where the inguinal canal naturally exists. Risk factors include chronic coughing, heavy lifting, straining during bowel movements or urination, obesity, pregnancy, and a family history of hernias. Aging and prior abdominal surgery also weaken the muscle layers, increasing susceptibility.
