What is Post-Operative Deconditioning?

Post-operative deconditioning is a decline in physical strength, endurance, balance, and overall functional capacity that occurs following surgery, most often as a result of prolonged bed rest, reduced mobility, and the body's catabolic stress response to the surgical procedure itself.
