Causes of Snake Bite
Snake bites occur when a snake, often defensively, injects venom through its fangs into human tissue during an encounter, most commonly while working in fields, walking in tall grass, or during nighttime activity in snake-inhabited regions. The severity of envenomation depends on the species of snake, the amount of venom injected, the location of the bite, and the size and health of the person bitten. Agricultural workers, herders, and people in rural areas without protective footwear are at the highest risk of snake bite.
