Obstructive azoospermia can often be treated with surgical reconstruction to reverse the blockage, such as vasectomy reversal, or by surgically retrieving sperm directly from the testicle or epididymis for use in assisted reproduction. Non-obstructive azoospermia is managed by treating any identifiable hormonal cause, or through surgical sperm retrieval techniques combined with in vitro fertilization using intracytoplasmic sperm injection when any sperm can be found. Donor sperm or adoption may be considered when no sperm can be retrieved.
