📖What is Lipoma?

A lipoma is a benign, slow-growing tumor made of mature fat cells that develops just beneath the skin, most commonly on the shoulders, neck, back, abdomen, arms, or thighs. It is the most common type of soft tissue tumor and typically feels soft, doughy, and moves easily under the skin when touched. Lipomas are almost always harmless and rarely become cancerous, though they can grow large enough to cause cosmetic concern or, in rare locations, press on nearby structures. Most people develop only one or a few, though some individuals with hereditary conditions develop many.
