Trichomoniasis is treated effectively with a course of oral antiparasitic medication, usually given as a single dose or a short course, which successfully cures the infection in the vast majority of cases. It is important for both the infected individual and their sexual partner or partners to be treated simultaneously, even if the partner has no symptoms, to prevent reinfection through continued sexual contact. Abstaining from sexual activity until both partners have completed treatment and symptoms have resolved is recommended to prevent transmission.
