What is Bone Tumour?
A bone tumour is an abnormal growth of cells within a bone that can be either benign, such as osteochondroma or giant cell tumour, or malignant, such as osteosarcoma or Ewing sarcoma. Primary bone tumours arise directly from bone tissue, while metastatic bone tumours spread to bone from cancers elsewhere in the body, such as breast, prostate, or lung cancer, and are far more common overall. Symptoms often develop gradually and can be mistaken for growing pains or minor injuries, particularly in children and adolescents where primary bone tumours are more frequent. Early diagnosis with imaging and biopsy is important to guide appropriate treatment and preserve limb function.
Severe
Rare as a primary cancer — primary bone tumours account for less than 1% of all cancers, though bone is a common site for metastasis from other cancers
