📖What is Inguinal Hernia?
An inguinal hernia occurs when a portion of intestine or fatty tissue protrudes through a weak point in the abdominal muscles in the groin region, creating a visible or palpable bulge. It is the most common type of hernia and occurs more frequently in men due to the natural anatomical passage left by the descent of the testes during fetal development. The bulge often becomes more noticeable when standing, coughing, or straining, and may reduce when lying down. If the protruding tissue becomes trapped and its blood supply compromised, it constitutes a surgical emergency.
