📖What is Haemorrhoids?

Haemorrhoids are swollen and inflamed blood vessels in the lowest part of the rectum and anus, which can develop internally within the rectum or externally under the skin around the anus. They form when there is increased pressure on these blood vessels, most commonly from straining during bowel movements, which causes them to become engorged and, in some cases, protrude outside the anus. Haemorrhoids are extremely common and, while often uncomfortable and occasionally alarming due to visible bleeding, are rarely a sign of a more serious underlying condition. Internal haemorrhoids are typically painless but can bleed, while external haemorrhoids can become painful, particularly if a blood clot forms within them. Most cases improve significantly with simple lifestyle and dietary changes, though more persistent or severe cases may require a minor procedure.
