🔬Causes & Risk Factors

• 1Caused by infection with Helicobacter pylori bacteria
• 2typically transmitted through contaminated food or water
• 3or through direct contact with saliva or faecal matter of an infected person
• 4most often acquired during childhood. Poor sanitation
• 5crowded living conditions
• 6and lack of access to clean water increase the likelihood of transmission and account for the infection's high prevalence in developing regions including India. The infection can persist for a lifetime if not specifically treated
• 7since the body's immune system generally cannot clear it on its own.
