What is Chronic Sinusitis?

Chronic sinusitis is a long-standing inflammation of the sinuses, the air-filled cavities surrounding the nose, that persists for twelve weeks or longer despite treatment attempts. The inflammation causes the sinus linings to swell, blocking normal drainage and mucus clearance, which leads to fluid buildup and creates an environment prone to recurrent infection.
