Causes of Pleural Effusion
Caused by a range of underlying conditions including heart failure, which leads to fluid leaking into the pleural space due to increased pressure in blood vessels, pneumonia or other lung infections, cancer affecting the lungs or pleura, pulmonary embolism, and conditions such as liver cirrhosis or kidney disease that alter fluid balance in the body.
