Causes of Atopic Dermatitis
Results from a combination of genetic mutations affecting the skin's protective barrier function, particularly the filaggrin gene, and immune system dysregulation that leads to excessive inflammatory response to normally harmless substances. A family history of atopic conditions such as asthma or allergic rhinitis strongly increases risk, along with environmental triggers like irritants and allergens.
