Causes of Cancer Pain
Cancer pain most commonly arises from the tumour directly invading, compressing, or stretching nearby bone, nerve, or organ tissue as it grows, or from pressure it places on surrounding structures. It can also result from cancer treatments themselves, including surgical incisions, radiation-induced tissue damage, or chemotherapy-related nerve damage known as peripheral neuropathy. In some cases, pain arises from unrelated conditions coexisting with cancer, such as arthritis, that require separate evaluation.
