What is Psoriatic Arthritis?
Psoriatic Arthritis is a chronic inflammatory joint condition that develops in some people who have the skin condition psoriasis, though joint symptoms can occasionally precede skin changes. It causes pain, stiffness, and swelling in and around the joints, and can affect any joint in the body, often asymmetrically. The condition can also cause characteristic swelling of entire fingers or toes, known as dactylitis, and can involve the nails and spine. If left untreated, it can lead to permanent joint damage and deformity.
