Causes of Childhood Obesity
Results from a sustained imbalance between calorie intake and physical activity, strongly influenced by diets high in sugary drinks, fast food, and processed snacks, combined with sedentary behavior and excessive screen time. Genetic predisposition, family eating habits, socioeconomic factors affecting access to healthy food, and, less commonly, underlying hormonal conditions also contribute. Insufficient sleep and psychological factors such as stress or emotional eating can further increase risk.
