Causes of Avascular Necrosis of Hip
Results from interrupted blood supply to the femoral head, commonly due to long-term corticosteroid use, excessive alcohol consumption, trauma such as hip fracture or dislocation, or conditions like sickle cell disease. Other risk factors include blood clotting disorders, radiation therapy, and certain autoimmune diseases. In some cases, no clear cause is identified, termed idiopathic avascular necrosis.
