Azoospermia is a condition in which no measurable sperm is found in a man's ejaculate, and is one of the more severe causes of male infertility, affecting a meaningful proportion of men undergoing infertility evaluation. It is classified as obstructive, where sperm production is normal but a physical blockage prevents sperm from reaching the ejaculate, or non-obstructive, where the testicles fail to produce sperm adequately due to a primary testicular or hormonal problem. Distinguishing between these two types through careful evaluation is essential, as it significantly determines treatment options and the likelihood of achieving biological fatherhood.
