📖What is Avascular Necrosis of Hip?
Avascular necrosis of the hip is a condition in which the blood supply to the head of the femur, the ball-shaped top of the thigh bone, is disrupted, causing the bone tissue to die and eventually collapse. Without adequate blood flow, the affected bone weakens and can no longer support the joint properly, leading to pain and progressive joint damage. It most commonly affects adults between 30 and 60 years old and, if left untreated, frequently progresses to collapse of the femoral head requiring joint replacement. Early diagnosis significantly improves the chances of preserving the natural joint.
