For most people, no. Dietary cholesterol has a modest effect on blood cholesterol compared with saturated and trans fats. Up to one egg a day is considered fine for healthy adults; people with diabetes or existing heart disease should discuss intake with their doctor.
What accompanies the egg often matters more than the egg — butter, cheese, sausage and fried preparations add the saturated fat that does move LDL.
People with type 2 diabetes show a less consistent picture in studies, so if you have diabetes it is worth discussing your intake alongside your lipid results.
