Types of Cholecystectomy

Laparoscopic cholecystectomy, using several small incisions and a camera, is the standard modern approach with a much faster recovery than older methods. Open cholecystectomy, through a larger abdominal incision, is reserved for complicated cases, extensive scarring from prior surgery, or when laparoscopic surgery needs to be converted due to unexpected findings.
