Types of EEG (Electroencephalogram)
A routine EEG records brain activity for a short period while awake, whereas a sleep-deprived or overnight EEG increases the chance of capturing abnormal discharges linked to certain seizure types. Video EEG monitoring combines simultaneous video recording with brain wave tracing over hours or days to correlate physical events with electrical activity, particularly useful for diagnosing epilepsy that is hard to catch on a routine scan.
