An independent review of your diagnosis and treatment plan. It's reasonable before major surgery, after a serious or rare diagnosis, when treatment isn't working, or when options are unclear. Good doctors expect and support it.
It is standard practice and professionally expected. Carry your reports, imaging discs and pathology slides, since a fresh review of the original material matters more than a new consultation alone.
Pathology review in particular changes the diagnosis or grade in a meaningful minority of cancer cases, which can change the whole treatment plan.
