Generally 60–100 beats per minute in adults. Well-trained athletes can be 40–60 and healthy. Consistently over 100 at rest (tachycardia) or under 50 with dizziness or fatigue is worth investigating.

A low resting rate with good exercise tolerance and no dizziness is usually a sign of fitness, not a problem. Some medications, particularly beta blockers, also lower it.

Worth checking if it comes with fainting, breathlessness, chest discomfort or unusual fatigue, or if it drops suddenly from your normal baseline.
