Why Colposcopy and Biopsy Is Needed
Colposcopy is performed following an abnormal Pap smear or a positive HPV test to get a closer, magnified look at the cervix and identify precancerous or cancerous changes. It's also used to investigate unexplained abnormal vaginal bleeding or a cervix that appears abnormal on routine pelvic examination.
