Why Cardioversion Is Needed

Performed to restore a normal heart rhythm in patients with certain fast or irregular arrhythmias, most commonly atrial fibrillation or atrial flutter, when the abnormal rhythm is causing symptoms or hasn't resolved with medication alone. It's used when getting the heart back into a regular rhythm is expected to improve symptoms and reduce complications like stroke risk from prolonged atrial fibrillation.
