Why Brain Tumor Resection Is Needed
Brain tumor resection is recommended when imaging identifies a mass causing pressure on surrounding brain tissue, whether the tumor is benign or malignant. Growing tumors that cause progressive neurological symptoms, seizures that don't respond to medication, or tumors at risk of blocking cerebrospinal fluid flow often require surgical removal. It's also performed to obtain tissue for accurate diagnosis and to reduce tumor burden before radiation or chemotherapy.
