Chlamydia is treated effectively with a course of oral antibiotics, typically completed over a single dose or several days depending on the specific medication prescribed. It is essential to abstain from sexual activity until treatment is completed and symptoms, if present, have resolved to prevent ongoing transmission. Sexual partners from recent months should also be tested and treated simultaneously to prevent reinfection, and retesting a few months after treatment is often recommended given the risk of repeat infection.
