At least 150 minutes of moderate activity or 75 minutes of vigorous activity per week, plus muscle-strengthening on two or more days. More brings additional benefit. Even 10-minute blocks count toward the total.
Moderate means you can talk but not sing — brisk walking, cycling on flat ground, swimming at an easy pace. Vigorous means you can only speak a few words at a time.
Muscle-strengthening on two days is the part most commonly skipped, and it matters most for preserving bone density and independence with age.
