Why Lung Resection Is Needed

Lung resection is performed to remove diseased lung tissue affected by cancer, chronic infections such as tuberculosis or fungal disease, bronchiectasis, or severe emphysematous bullae, while preserving as much healthy, functioning lung as possible. It is considered when medical management alone cannot control the underlying disease or when a suspicious mass needs definitive removal and diagnosis.
