Types of Biopsy

Needle biopsies, either fine-needle aspiration or core needle biopsy, use a thin needle to extract cells or tissue with minimal invasiveness, often guided by ultrasound or CT. Surgical biopsies, either incisional or excisional, are used when more tissue is needed or the lesion needs complete removal for both diagnosis and treatment.
