Why Pulmonary Function Tests (PFT) Is Needed
Ordered to diagnose and evaluate chronic respiratory conditions such as asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and pulmonary fibrosis, or to investigate unexplained breathlessness. It is also used pre-operatively to assess lung capacity before major surgery, and to monitor how well a patient is responding to respiratory treatment over time.
