Treatment & Types of Squint in Telangana
Treatment depends on the type and underlying cause and may include corrective glasses to address refractive errors, patching therapy or eye exercises to strengthen the weaker eye, and prism lenses to help align vision. Surgical correction of the eye muscles is often needed for significant or persistent misalignment, particularly when detected in childhood, to restore proper alignment and binocular vision. Early treatment in children is critical to prevent permanent vision loss from amblyopia.
Squint is classified by the direction the misaligned eye turns: esotropia, turning inward; exotropia, turning outward; hypertropia, turning upward; and hypotropia, turning downward. It is also classified as constant, present all the time, or intermittent, appearing only sometimes such as during fatigue or illness, and as concomitant, where the degree of misalignment stays the same in all directions of gaze and is more typical in children, versus incomitant, where the degree of misalignment varies with gaze direction and is more typical of adult-onset causes like nerve damage.
