About ECMO Services
ECMO (extracorporeal membrane oxygenation) is an advanced life-support machine that takes over the work of the heart and lungs for a time while the body recovers. It is used in the most severe respiratory or cardiac failure when other treatment is not enough.
ECMO is resource-intensive and carries risks such as bleeding and infection, and is available only at specialised centres with trained teams.
